Abstract. Why do we so often eat more than we need, even when we promise ourselves to «hold on»? This article reveals the reasons for overeating, combining physiology and psychology to show how our body and mind work against us. You will learn how the hormones of hunger (ghrelin) and satiety (leptin) control appetite, and why their balance is disrupted by stress or lack of sleep. We will analyze how the brain, chasing dopamine, makes chips and sweets so tempting, and why large portions or bright fast food advertising literally make us eat more. The article also explains how emotions like stress, sadness, or boredom push us to the fridge, and how habits like eating in front of the TV become a trap. We will also touch on the influence of society, from family traditions of «finishing everything» to marketing that manipulates our desires.
The article concludes with practical advice on how to normalize eating through mindfulness, cope with emotional hunger without food, and create an environment at home where it is easier to make healthy choices. This article is for those who want to understand why overeating is so persistent and find real ways to stop. Start reading to take the first step towards controlling your habits!
