Alisher Navoi and the genre of «Javami ul-kalim» (based on the work «Nazm ul-Javahir»)

Abstract. This article examines the java’em al-kalim tradition in classical literature, as well as the use of the java’em al-kalim style in the works of the great poet Alisher Nava’i, using the example of his work «Nazm ul-jawahir». The ruba’i «Nazm ul-jawahir» contains quotations from the Quran and hadith, skillfully integrated into the poetic text. These quotations lend the verses additional depth and religious context, emphasizing moral and spiritual values. The use of the java’em al-kalim style allows Nava’i to express complex philosophical and ethical concepts in a few lines. The java’em al-kalim tradition, which occupies a special place in classical literature, represents the art of laconic and pithy expression. This style, characterized by brevity, depth, and ambiguity, served as a means of conveying wisdom and moral principles. The use of the «jawayem al-kalim» style in Alisher Nava’i’s work is a striking example of the poet’s mastery. In his work «Nazm al-jawahir», this style is reflected in the form of ruba’i — quatrains distinguished by their aphoristic quality and rich content. Furthermore, the article presents important information about the thematic scope and compositional structure of the work.
