An integrative approach to the analysis of Russian-American discourse in the context of polycentrism and digital transformation

Abstract. The relevance of the article is determined by the impact of two megatrends: the transformation of the international order towards polycentricity and comprehensive digitalization. These processes are shaping a new paradigm of interaction, where the information space is becoming a key field of strategic rivalry, and classical concepts of influence are evolving into hybrid forms.
The aim of the article is to develop a comprehensive analytical approach for studying Russian-American political discourse under these conditions. The object of study — the Russian-American information and communication space — is characterized by high complexity, while the subject of study (discursive practices and competing narratives) requires new methods of analysis.
To this end, an integrative «methodological triangle» is proposed, combining a constructivist approach, M. Castells’ theory of the network society, and critical discourse analysis, supplemented by the tools of computational linguistics and frame analysis.
The key result is the development of an original integrative model. Its distinctive feature is the synthesis of macro-level analysis of international relations with micro-level study of discursive practices, which bridges the gap between International Relations theory and media studies. This approach is adequate to modern challenges, as power in a hybrid media system increasingly depends on the ability to construct meanings.
The application of the model yields specific results: identifying conflicting narratives, modeling their dissemination networks, and deconstructing ideological components in communication. In conclusion, it is substantiated that the proposed synthesis ensures a multidimensional analysis of hybrid political influence, systemically integrating global structural changes with specific discursive practices within one of the key contemporary discourses.
