Modern approaches to the social integration of children in need of social protection (using Uzbekistan as an example)

Abstract. The article is devoted to the problem of social integration of children in need of social protection: orphans, children with disabilities, children from disadvantaged families and survivors of violence. The article analyzes the theoretical foundations of their integration, factors influencing the success of a child’s inclusion in society, and the current state of the social protection system for children in Uzbekistan. The theoretical and methodological basis of the work is W. Bronfenbrenner’s ecological model of development, U. Bronfenbrenner theory of attachment J. Bowlby and M. Ainsworth, the work of psychologists on the problems of orphanhood and deprivation. Reforms of recent years: the establishment of the National Social Protection Agency, «Insom» centres, the transition from institutional forms of care to family‑based ones. Based on an analysis of international experience and modern research, the need for an interdisciplinary approach to solving the problems of social integration is substantiated — an approach that includes coordinating the efforts of education, healthcare, social protection, and law enforcement agencies. The main problems of integration (institutional, psychological and pedagogical, and systemic) are identified, and promising directions for solving them are determined (deinstitutionalization, the development of inclusive education, a trauma‑informed approach, and interdepartmental cooperation). The practical part of the article presents recommendations for applying a trauma‑informed approach in working with children who have experienced violence, and for developing a system of psychosocial support in educational institutions and social services. The author concludes that successful social integration of children requires a comprehensive approach that takes into account the individual needs of each child and предполагает active participation of the state and civil society institutions.
